FIGHT OFF SLUGS WITH STARBUCKS COFFEE.....

You may have seen in Starbucks, that they are giving away bags of used coffee for your garden. Here is how you use it....

Spread used coffee grounds around plants before rain or watering for a slow-release nitrogen boost. This coffee-ground mulch also can help reduce the ravages of slugs and snails.

MAKE YOUR OWN FERTILISER...

Combine two tablespoons Epsom salts with about 3 ltrs of water for an easy fertilizer. The magnesium and sulfur in the salt encouragesleaves to grow bushier and the plants to bloom more often.

PLANTING IN CLAY POTS......

Soak the pots in water for 2-3 hours before using them when re-potting plants. Otherwise, when you water the newly-potted plants, the pots are likely to absorb the water.

WHITE WINE VINEGAR....USE AS A WEED KILLER!

The acetic acid in the vinegar does two things: it burns the weed's foliage on contact and it temporarily lowers the pH of the soil, making it hard for the weed to make a comeback. This weedkiller is best used on patio areas as it can kill surrouning plants.

For best results use on a sunny day as you don't want the rain to wash it away.

A teaspoon of liquid soap to the vinegar to help it stick to the weeds

Some weeds are persistent, and may need to be treated more than once.
