Ryder Cup memories from Farleigh in Croydon

Those strong links with the Ryder Cup that Farleigh has occur through the legend that is John Jacobs.

For those whose memories escape them, John was both a Ryder Cup player back in 1955 and a captain. And the connection is simple - all three courses at Farleigh were designed by John’s firm, as well as the Edinburgh course at Wentworth.

John was perhaps best known for being a world class teaching professional alongside an author of classic books like The Golf Doctor and The Golf Swing Simplified. According to Tiger Woods’ former coach, Butch Harmon, “There isn’t a golf teacher who does not owe something to John Jacobs. He wrote the book on coaching."

The Ryder Cup begins this weekend on 25th September at Gleneagles and we're sure John will be amongst the many of us on tenterhooks with the hope of seeing Europe on another winning streak!

Good luck to all the Europeans golfers this weekend!

And if you fancy a game yourself, why not book at tee time at Farleigh and enjoy the stunning courses while the weather holds out!
