Project B launches daytime cafe

The iconic Beanos building continues to be put to great usage, as Project B launch their daytime Café-Bar this weekend on the ground floor of this listed building in Croydon’s old town quarter.  Building on the success of the existing Project B Events Venue, the café-bar provides a day to day option for Croydoners looking for a great gourmet sandwich and a glass of fine wine or cold beer, or something stronger and more creative.  The space will be used in the evenings and on Sundays for pop-up and private events.

With the existing events venue fully booked until the end of summer, the owners turned their attention to the ground floor, giving it an industrial-luxe makeover, making it unrecognisable from its previous eclectic incarnations.  Think stone flooring, bare Edison’s, neon lighting, a Pashley trike and a jubilee-edition original phonebox.

The drinks menu continues the iconic classics theme, with not an 80’s cocktail in sight.  Instead the team have opted to serve aperitifs alongside mixed drinks, fine wines and craft beers.  Food by day will change regularly but kicks off with The Magnificent Seven – reportedly the best seven sandwiches in town, free-range meat, five types of bread baked fresh daily, home-made sauces and market-sourced ingredients.

Is Croydon ready for this?  Let’s see…
