With only a short hop and a skip to go till Christmas, many of us are starting to look ahead to Christmas parties - whether it be the office party, or a gathering with friends, celebrating the festive season is a must!

And our favourite local restaurants are getting into the swing of things by now taking Christmas bookings.

Let's begin with Bagatti's - the Italian restaurant in South End that's everyone's favourite!

They are loving the lead up to Christmas, now taking bookings for the busy period. They have live music nights in December too so check out our events pages for exact dates.

This year's menu is a mouthwatering selection from favourites such as gamberoni, linguini, risotto and tiramisu. Yum!

Then we turn to our favourite Croydon pub, the marvellous Spread Eagle. There you are quite simply spoilt for choice with not only fabulous food but also theatre entertainment (available on selected dates - click on our events pages to check out what's on when!)

The Spread Eagle is always a very popular location for events in the run up to Christmas so book your ideal date early to avoid disappointment. Their 3 course set meal is excellent value at £19.95 for 3 courses and includes firm favourites such as chicken liver and cranberry pate, lamb shank and good old Christmas pudding.

Down in Purley you could pop into the Jolly Farmers, well known for their live music nights, where you can enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, good conversation and freshly prepared food.

For another local pub option, this time in nearby Streathem, our favourite is The Furzedown pub. A great community focused venue, The Furzedown serves gastro pub style food that include firm favourites such as fish & chips, burgers and curries, as well as seasonal Chef's specials.

And even though it's winter time, Farleigh golf club is the perfect place to enjoy a brisk round of winter golf followed by some delicious warming food at Nineteen, the club's brasserie.

And if you fancy a New Year's eve with a difference then you could be entertained by Elvis and Tom Jones at the Panahar restaurant! The set meal is £50 and you can be entertained by Paul Weaver while enjoying the renowned food at the Panahar restaurant.

There's plenty of fun, food and festivity this coming season so get stuck in!
