The Croydon Business Excellence Awards were held last week and what a fantastic night it was for our talented local businesses!
The Grand Sapphire at Gatwick hosted the party of the year, bringing together the cream of Croydon’s business community to recognise their achievements across a whole range of categories.
The 400-plus guests were welcomed to the sparkling affair by journalist and broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer, and were all set to enjoy a glittering evening of networking and entertainment. With a three-course meal including wine, live music, a charity auction, dancing to a DJ until 1am and a fun photo booth, there was bound to be lots of fun & frivolity in store!
But first the serious business of recognising the huge talent in the local Croydon business community and we were just delighted to hear of the success of two of our favourite businesses: JAM Hair and Chequers Contract Services.
First up - JAM Hair. These awards have always been very close to Jacqui, owner of JAM Hair's heart, and after 4 years of entering, the hard work of Jacqui and her team has definitely paid off. JAM Hair won the Independent Retailer of the Year and were also commended in the Best Business for Marketing & Social Media and Best Business for Customer Service categories.
Jacqui was glowing, and said "I can’t say how chuffed I am. It makes the team feel special which is fantastic. In the past we have always been highly commended or commended so we are thrilled to have won this award."
Chequers Contract Services were also recognised for their achievements by winning the Apprenticeship Employer of the Year Winner and being awarded highly commended in the Best SME Business (sponsored by the London Borough of Croydon) and the Best Business for Staff Training & Development categories. We're so, so pleased for you!
Special mention also needs to go to Buffets by Design who were finalists in the Best Charity or Social Enterprise (sponsored by the Croydon Partnership) category and Minuteman Press Croydon, finalists in the Best Business for Customer Service category.
The event also raised around £10,000 for the Mayor of Croydon's chosen charities for the year, which is wonderful news.
Well done to you all, you've always been winners in our eyes!
