Croydon Celebrates World Vegan Day with an Eco Veggie Fayre
8th September 2009

Well by all accounts Croydon has been dubbed “London’s Unhealthiest Borough”. Well it’s nice to be famous for something.

So shall we change this wonderful accolade to “London’s Not-Quite-So-Unhealthy-As-It-Was Borough”?

A number of movers and shakers in the health profession and food-related campaigners have joined forces to do just that, currently creating a programme of events for an Ethical Health and Sustainability Festival designed to wake us up and shake us up.

One local face involved is leading UK Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston, from Foods For Life Consultancy, who has a clinic at the Oasis Natural Health Store on Croydon High Street.

Ideas for projects include annual awards, talks and workshops, and an environmental film festival. Foods For Life will also be getting involved at the Croydon Food Festival in September.

One concrete event for the diary is the Croydon Eco Veggie Fayre on World Vegan Day on Sunday November 1st.

Held at the Fairfield Halls from 11am-6pm, the theme of this event is Health and Sustainability – “healthy ethical living and climate change solutions for life.”
