Celebrations on a grand scale are great, and no doubt the Jubilee has gone a long way towards bringing together communities that over time and with the hustle and bustle of a busy daily life can occasionally lose touch. Keep that momentum going now by taking some time out to support and enjoy your own local events.

On16th June 2012, Green Croydon brings you its annual environmental Green Fair. Offering education, advice and fantastic products you will find a host of stalls including Croydon branches of the Green Party, Real Nappy Network, Friends of the Earth and Fairtrade Network. Concentrating on animal welfare, find out all about the Croydon Beekeepers, RSPB and London Wildlife Trust. Environmentally aware fashion and beauty is brought to you by the likes of Eco Elegance, At the Skin Care and Fizbags, and you can even take your bike along for some maintenance.

Taking place at North End Town Centre from 10am, entry is free and there are stalls and displays for all the family. Go along and get inspiration for a green lifestyle.

On the 23rd-24th June, let's hope the sun shines on the New Addington People's Carnival at Milne Park. As well as arena acts, stalls, a funfair and car boot sale there will be displays from local groups to entertain the whole family. And talking of entertainment, why not brush up on your hidden talents, whatever they may be, and take part in the New Addington's Got Talent Competition... warm up your vocal chords, practice your knock knock jokes or perfect your juggling skills - there are prizes to be won!  If you'd rather hide your light under a bushel talent wise, then you can still grab a prize in the open age Fancy Dress competition, limited only by your imagination. Who will be the Carnival King and Queen, and Prince and Princess?

A weekend of fun is promised, with free entry to the Procession and a car boot sale on both the Saturday and Sunday – a good excuse to have a late Spring clear out and make some extra pennies into the bargain!

West Thornton Primary Academy in Croydon is holding their annual Summer Fair on 30th June from 12noon until 4pm; it’s well worth offering your support as all funds raised go back into the school for resources for the pupils. Enjoy a mouth watering barbecue washed down with Pimms, face painting and bouncy castle for the children a raffle, plenty of stalls and refreshments. Admission is by 50p raffle ticket and stalls are available to hire if you have your own crafts, gifts or produce to share.

Alternatively, on the same day Orchard Way Primary School Summer Fete is taking place and is sure to be fun for all the family, such as bouncy castles, a Buckin' Bronco, raffles, tombolas, barbecues and refreshments.

All in all there is something for anyone, and though the sun just cannot seem to make its mind up from one week to the next, this past weekend has proved that we Brits will have fun whatever the weather!

Full details of all the above can be found on thebestof Croydon’s Events page.
