And now for something completely different, by Charlotte of London.
I had a spare 5 minutes yesterday so I thought I would have a flick through the beauty press and see what's new and happening out there. I came across an interesting article about extreme and bizarre treatments from around the world which I thought I would share with you. Some of these are not for the faint hearted so if you are a bit squeamish look away now!
Snail Facial This is quite popular in Russia apparently used in the treatment of scaring, pigmentation and dehydrated skin. It involves huge African snails being placed on the skin, secreting their peptide and hyaluronic acid-rich slime. Snails crawling over your face. Lovely!
The Geisha Facial Involving a mask made from the excrement of a nightingale, this treatment is said to be high in amino acids to help brighten and cleanse the skin. Victoria Beckham tried it so it must be good. Using Nightingale poo in a facial is an ancient Japanese technique and is said to have a musky or doughy smell. Nice!
Snake Massage Corn snakes or king snakes wriggle over the body to produce a relaxing massage sensation. (Israel) It dosen't mention if they bite.
Beer Bath Very popular in the Czech Republic and with the Real Ale Society (I made the last bit up) Simply a bath full of beer which you sit in. It's meant to help with circulation and lower blood pressure. Not so clever if you drink the contents though.
If you would like to try any of the above let me know I'll have a root around the garden and see what I can find. Always happy to oblige.
Five Things that we can do to make you feel better when it's miserable outside.
1 Get a Spray Tan. This is the time of year when your social diary is probably beginning to fill up with weddings and other engagements that require you to wear that special dress you bought especially for the occasion but you're looking a bit pale. Well we can fix that with a natural looking spray tan. It only takes about 15 mins and lasts for at least a week.
2 Have your nails done. Our hands are in use every minute of every day. What would we do without them. We all love great looking nails and this is another simple way of giving yourself a boost. You could even have a manicure and a pedicure. And if you really want to push the boat out........
3 Instead of a normal manicure why not try Bio Sculpture Gel. It's a gel applied over your natural nail. There's no drilling or excessive buffing. Lasts up to 3 weeks and is non chip. You can have it on your hands and on your feet. It looks great!
4 For something really special you should try an Elemis Facial. The advanced facials are 1 hour and 15 mins of pure indulgence. The facial incorporates two masks and an element of massage all designed to re invigorate your skin. Pure heaven.
5 And if you find all that a bit much you could just come in and have a colour match with the Bare Escentual pure mineral make up collection. We will show you how to use the products and you then get to try them for yourself without any obligation to purchase.
So if you are feeling a bit fed up come in and see us and we will do our best to make you feel good and put a smile back on your face.
Hope to see you soon.
