Youngsters can never sit still - a known fact that most parents recognise.

Whether your children are adventure-lovers or upcoming artists, mini travellers or growing geniuses, there is always a perfect solution to their boredom in Colchester.

Some places just stand out for us, like our very own Colchester Zoo. Colchester Zoo is a wonderful day out with the family, packed full of hands on activities and seasonal displays, and as 2013 just happens to be its 50th birthday, there are even more offers and events for everyone.

But if that doesn't float your boat, how about Childsplay Adventureland in Colchester; thrilling softplay fun that all kids love! Let your children unleash their wild side in a fun, safe environment at this premier indoor play facility, while you can relax at the café for a well earned drink and a bite to eat. You can even celebrate your child's birthday at one of their different themed party packages, or keep them busy at one of the numerous arty activities they provide.

For the more inquisitive children (and parents!) there are plenty of exhibitions and award-winning museums in Colchester that show off Britain's oldest recorded town, including a fort built way back in 43 AD, a water tower from 1883 and the fascinating Castle Museum.

Don't live in the area? Can't fit everything into one day? No need to worry as Colchester provides many quality hotels and accommodation to suit all needs.

Don't miss out on these awesome upcoming events:

  • Art Exhibition at Bourne Mill (22nd and 29th August 2013)
  • Fire week at the Natural History Museum (15th-16th August 2013)
  • Vintage and craft fair at the Holy Trinity Church (16th, 23rd, 24th and 30th  August 2013)
  • Circo Ridiculoso's Three Little Pigs at Colchester Art centre (17th August 2013)
  • Club Dinky for Under 7's at firstsite (18th August)
  • Water week – Undersea light-up animals at the Natural History Museum (20th-21st August)
  • Free Family Saturdays at firstsite (Saturdays!)

...and many more!

With time slipping away and school fast approaching, don't let your children become bored during these last few weeks of their summer. Colchester can offer so much to fill their days with excitement and fun and give them a summer to remember!
