Last year, six year old Violet Wilson stepped up in front of hundreds of Colchester residents to turn on the town's Christmas lights.
And as we get closer to the festive period, Colchester's Christmas Group is now seeking another young shining star to turn on the High Street's lights for 2012.
With the competition opening on Monday 22nd October until midday Thursday 8th November 2012, the winner will accompany Colchester's mayor, Christopher Arnold, on the balcony of the Town Hall to kick off a festive calender of events happening in the town.
Cllr Smith, portfolio holder for Business and Resources explained, "The switch-on of the Christmas lights and events around the town centre mark the beginning of Colchester's festive programme.
“By working in partnership, we are able to offer this 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to one lucky Colchester resident and raise the profile of Christmas and shopping in the town centre."
To enter, you must be of primary or junior school age and you need to let the Christmas Group know what your special Christmas wish is. It could be for you, a friend, a member of your family... it's completely up to you. All that matters is that it's a wish that you would love to see come true this Christmas.
A parent or guardian must also add their permission to the entry and don't forget to let them know your contact details so they know how to get in touch if you are the winner!
You can either email your entry or put it in one the two entry boxes, which can be found at Colchester's Visitor Information Centre or the Londis supermarket on St Michael's Estate.
The official Christmas lights switch-on will be taking place at 5:30pm on Saturday 17th November. The lucky winner will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken and speak on Garrison FM.
