We always look forward to the Duck Race weekend in South Cerney and this year the village is planning to out-do itself yet again with even more activities planned. There are three great evening events in the garden of Atkyns manor, a big lunch in the marquee and this years sees the addition of a fantastic British Cycling Event. The whole weekend culminates in the wonderful, family friendly Duck Race Day which every year attracts thousands of visitors and is arguably one of the best FREE events in Gloucestershire. So if you are looking for things to do in Cirencester or The Cotswolds on the May bank holiday weekend, then look no further!

 

Below is a list of everything happening and most importantly - how to be a part of it!

 

WEEKEND EVENING EVENTS

A list of the eveing events is below. All evening events are held in the grounds of Atkyns Manor in Silver Street, South Cerney GL7 5TT

You are more than welcome to bring your own food but please ensure all beverages are bought from the reasonably priced licensed bar.

Fantastic Covers Band ‘LOCOMOTION

Friday 24th May 7:30pm - Midnight

Locomotion are one of the most popular cover bands in the UK and their set list includes the best music from the 60's to tunes found in the charts at the moment.

Award winning Celtic band 'THE ROVING CROWS' and 'The Curious Little Big Band'

Saturday 25th May 7:30pm - Midnight

The Roving Crows’ inexhaustible energy allows them stand alone status on the live music scene. They have been described as completely unique and uncontainable. They boast an original Celtic music vibe, though they also draw influences from folk, jazz, ska and blues.

The Big Lunch

Sunday 26th May 12 noon - 3pm

Following the success of last years Jubilee Lunch, South Cerney are organising another event. Tables will be set up inside the marquee and prizes will be given to the best dressed one. Please bring your own food.

British Cycling Event

Sunday 26th May

10-12 noon Cycling skills with a British Cycling Coach. Suitable for 6-14 year olds (roughly). Bring your own bike and helmet and meet us at the Upper Up playing field.

2-4pm Cycle Race for elite cyclists only. Start and finish outside Atkyns Manor. The cyclists will be doing laps along Clarks Hay, Station Road, Spine Road, past Butts Farm, past the Golf Course and back down Silver Street. 

 

 

'Operation 77' plus 'The Breeze'

Sunday 27th May 7pm-11:30pm

Operation'77 pay tribute to Punk, Ska and New Wave music.  Their set list includes: Joy Division-Love will tear us apart, The Specials-Message to you rudy, Sex Pistols-Anarchy in the UK, The Clash-Should I stay or should I go and Dexys midnight runners-Come on Eileen.

Duck Race And Street Fair Day! 

Monday 27th May 10am-5pm

This year will be better than ever, with live bands and entertainment, as well as over 60 stalls and  fun attractions. There will also be Go Karts, army vehicles and of course the big Duck Race itself which starts at 3:30pm.

There will also be a magician, hog roast, bouncy castle, cream teas and other refreshments, face painting, fairground rides and more!


FREE ENTRY to the Street Fair

FREE PARKING for all visitors at Upper Up playing field

FREE VINTAGE BUS from Upper Up Playing Field to Street Fair.
