Local Man Tragically Killed Walking on Spine Road in South Cerney

We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Max Hartshorne who was tragically killed at the weekend. This young man was hit by a car just after midnight on Sunday whilst walking along the Spine Road near South Cerney. Police believe at least one car, which failed to stop, is involved. Though we don’t yet know the details of this awful incident, I myself have seen people walking late a night down our unlit country roads and this just goes to highlight how dangerous it is. If you do need to get home on foot, make sure you wear high vis clothing and carry a torch so you can be seen to all. Where there is no pavement, walk on the side of the road that is facing the oncoming traffic. Don’t let friends go home unaccompanied if they are inebriated. And Drivers – take it slowly and be prepared for the unexpected. Anyone with any information is asked to call Gloucestershire police on 101, quoting incident 27 of August 19.
