As a change from the past 3 years there will be no German-style chalets but by popular demand a return
to the Advent Festival and Christmas Lights Switch-On, which will take place on Saturday, 30 November.

The Market Place will close to traffic from 1pm – 8pm as local musicians take centre stage from early afternoon ending about 7pm prior to the Cirencester Choral society’s 150th anniversary concert in the Parish Church – a performance of Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’. If you prefer something lighter to end the festivities why not try ‘Bread & Circuses’, a Brewery Blues Xtra Special at New Brewery Arts.

Keith Chegwin, who is headlining at the Wyvern Theatre pantomime for the 3rd year running, will turn on the lights at around 6.30pm. ‘Cheggers’ will be performing the hilarious role of ‘Silly Billy’ in ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’
following his sensational appearance in this year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ tv production.

A wide selection of market stalls as well as mouth watering food stands will all add to the festive atmosphere in the town in the run-up to Christmas.

With Cirencester’s abundance of musical talent there is something to appeal to all tastes with a mixed bag of concerts and performances – as part of ‘Cirencester Makes Music at Christmas’.

Cirencester’s 3 festive weekends begin on 29 November (29Nov – 2Dec, 6 – 9 Dec, 13 – 16 Dec) open from 9am – 4pm (from 10am on Sundays).
