With festival season officially under way, a Wilmslow care home is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

Care UK’s Long Stone Manor, in Wilmslow, is opening its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

On Thursday 6th August, from 2pm-3.30pm, guests are invited to enjoy delicious food and seasonal treats prepared by the home’s head chef.

Guests can expect an afternoon tea featuring desserts residents enjoyed when they were younger. Representatives from the Deaf and Sensory Roadshow will also be in attendance to talk about the work they do.

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Laura Foster, Home Manager at Long Stone Manor, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to our very own food festival!

“We are part of a strong community and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.”
