This August, Care UK's Abney Court is opening its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
On Thursday 6th August, from 2pm-4pm, the team at the Manchester Road home will take visitors back in time with a menu inspired by residents’ favourite childhood meals. Dishes on offer will include a host of local and international flavours specially prepared by the home’s chef.
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
