Had a work lunch here last week. WHAT A PLACE. Everything was spot on, and we have all said we will definitely be back ! I recently visited shwings for my birthday last night with high hopes as I have loved coming here previously so was excited to return on my birthday, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Not only were we overcharged, but the staff's refusal to rectify the situation added to my disappointment. I’m not here to get a discount or free meal but to show there was a lack of communication and resolution to my experience with management.

As a returning customer I was excited to go here as a celebration and take my dad. We have been multiple times and never had issues before. The restaurant was busy for a Tuesday night and that was great to see, the service was slow however the manager came and explained there was staff absent and sat at our table to take the order after a waiting for a while, I’m assuming this was the owner after explaining the absences.

Shwings do an unlimited night where you can pick between a classic and special menu and they bring you wings from the chosen. The waiter took our orders himself and we chose to have one of each.

As I received the bill, I immediately noticed that the total amount was higher than anticipated. Confused we approached the cashier to ask for clarification. We had order one classic unlimited wings and one special. I politely pointed out the discrepancy, hoping for a simple resolution. That they would change this to what we had ordered with the manager at our table, unfortunately the attempt to resolve the issue was met with resistance and from the staff. The member of staff called her manage who denied remembering what we had ordered after sitting at the table and ordering for us. Again just to clarify we didn’t/don’t want to get a free meal or discount just disappointed that the manager wouldn’t have explained this to us as he was sitting on the table taking the order.

Despite explaining the mistake the staff refused to rectify the situation as the manager had instructed on the phone. This was a shame as if this was explained before we could have chosen accordingly but was made to be our fault and the error was not acknowledged.

In addition the flavors were very decent, the wings were small and not too crispy in texture however your getting unlimited so it’s not an issue. We had 5 portions of wings each all 5 classic flavours and 5 off the special menu. Not 16 as plates as stated below.

Ultimately, my recent experience at shwings was marred by the overcharging issue and the staff's refusal to rectify the situation. While the flavors of the wings were good , the customer service of resolving the issue was underwhelming. Hopefully, the management of shwings takes these concern on board and works towards improving customer service and explaining clearly the “rules” that he has set out.

Stumbled accros this place whilst searching for "Halal" after the cricket at Essex County Cricket Ground. All the chicken in Shwings is halal. There are some really creative flavourful chicken wing dishes on the menu. Interesting stuff. I had the mango chicken curry burger. Sounded good, but lacked in flavour. There were actual real mango pieces in the burger, but would be better with a sweet mango chutney instead as it just tasted like nothing. Was a good experience and great venue and customer service. Shame there was a service charge for a takeaway! Left a sour taste when it came to paying.

Hubby kept talking about this nice place called Shwings, and trust me, it was all worth the trial 😉 have you ever had a really juicy and nicely sauced chicken? Yummy 😋. The only eyebrow raiser was having just one person take orders,serve,answer the phone,respond to delivery guys, and be responsible for cleaning up there by making the service slower than should be.

PS: They did loose at least 4 customers because the waiter had his hands pretty full.

Generally, the restaurant was also well laid out nicely, and it's instagrammable.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and the food was served with a Love and laughs

I do recommend Shwings to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Chelmsford.
I will be back for the Spicest wings🤣

Wheelchair accessibility: Not a wheelchair friendly place it's got Stairs.

Independent high quality chicken restaurant. The wings are superior to any other chain in Chelmsford and there is a good vibe and music, plus you can smash a beer or 2 back which most chicken places lack. Good variety of sauces, great sides, I found the service top notch.Recommended dishes

We are regularly returning customers. We love shwings. My personal favourite is the smokey jalepino chicken wings. I could eat them all day every day and don't think I would get tired!

I had the pleasure of dining at Shwings in Chelmsford, and I must say it was an incredible experience! The star of the show was undoubtedly their special trio platter, which was an absolute delight for my taste buds. Priced at £25, this platter consisted of a generous selection of Buffalo wings, Garlic Parmesan and Korean Heat.

Each flavor was uniquely delicious and perfectly cooked, with the perfect balance of heat, spices, and seasoning. The Buffalo wings were tangy and spicy, the Garlic Parmesan wings were rich and creamy, and the Korean Heat wings were an explosion of flavors that left me craving for more.

But the highlight of our dining experience was the exceptional service provided by Dan. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful time. He recommended some of the best dishes on the menu, and even customized our order to suit our preferences. His warm and welcoming personality made us feel right at home, and we were thoroughly impressed by his professionalism and expertise.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was also fantastic, with a cozy and comfortable ambiance that made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and the food was served promptly and with a smile.

Overall, I highly recommend Shwings to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Chelmsford. The food was amazing, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was perfect. I cannot wait to visit again and try out some of their other delicious offerings!
