The vibrant pack is the brainchild of Hednesford Town Council and has been produced to introduce new residents to the many advantages of living in the town – from contact numbers for useful groups to join to encouraging them to use the town centre and businesses, as well as raising awareness of local events.
Useful guides to public transport and medical facilities will also be incorporated.
Councillor Doris Grice, chairman of Hednesford Town Council said: “In the next couple of years, thanks to major housing developments, there are going to be a lot more people moving to the area. We wanted to show them what we have to offer in this great part of the world, with Cannock Chase on our doorstep and a brilliant town centre.
“It can be very daunting when you move to a new area to find out what is out there to help you make new friends as well as accessing important services, so we felt it was important to make this easier for people and help them get to know Hednesford early on.”
The pack has been produced with the support of Cannock Chase District Council and Councillor Frank Allen (Leader of Housing) helped hand over a pack to its first recipients, James and Beryl Todd of Metcalfe Close.
He said: “It has been a great pleasure in welcoming Mr and Mrs Todd to the area. This pack is a brilliant guide - showing what Hednesford has to offer. It will hopefully help people settle into the area more easily”.
Mrs Todd added: “It has been lovely to receive such a warm welcome from the council and the information in the pack is brilliant. We will be sure to keep it safe so we can refer to it as we need to.”
