Cannock Chase Council is urging the public to have their say on a potential new housing development in Hednesford.
The Council, as the local planning authority, is currently producing a Core Strategy which will set out the long-term planning policies to be used in promoting and controlling development throughout the District up to 2026.
One site – to the west of Pye Green Road and north of Limepit Lane in Hednesford – has been identified in the Core Strategy as suitable for 750 new houses, which would be supported by a new primary school, community facilities and open space.
A draft development brief has been created to guide potential development on the site from the outset. A consultation starts on Wednesday 8th December and all views and comments received will influence future stages of the development brief.
The Council holding four consultation events in the town, where residents can say what they like or dislike about the brief or to make recommendations on how it could be improved. Comments made during the consultation process will help to influence future stages of the brief.
Council officers, along with the site’s developers and agents, will be available to hear views and to provide further information at the following locations:
Thursday 9th December – Pye Green Community Centre, 4pm to 7pm
Friday 10th December – Pye Green Community Centre, 3pm to 6pm
Monday 13th December – Hednesford library, 3.30pm to 6.30pm
Monday 20th December – Hednesford library, 3.30pm to 6.30pm.
The development brief will also be on the Council’s website from 8th December at www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/planningpolicy, where comments can be submitted online.
The brief is also available for inspection at the Civic Centre in Beecroft Road, Cannock, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, where copies can also be produced. Inspection copies will also be available at the Council’s Hednesford area office. Call the Council on 01543 462621 to receive a paper copy by post or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Comments can also be submitted by post to Planning Policy, Cannock Chase Council, Civic Centre, PO Box 28, Beecroft Road, Cannock WS11 1BG.
