The street market, operated by Bescot Promotions will run from Friday 29th November for a trial period of six months. The market which will be a mix of specialist/craft stalls and general market stalls will be located in Market Square and Market Hall Street every Friday.
Councillor Diane Todd, Portfolio Leader for Town Centre Regeneration said "It is hoped that the introduction of a well-run street market will add vibrancy and value to the town centre. We are trying to create a family atmosphere and bring additional customers into the town centre. During holiday periods not only will we have a street market, but we also hope to bring in entertainment in the form of children's rides, street entertainers and food promotions."
Councillor George Adamson, Leader of the Council said "This is great news for Cannock Town Centre. We hope by increasing the footfall into the town centre that it will improve trading conditions for existing retailers and if successful attract new retailers and reduce the number of vacant units."
At the end of the trial period the Council will review with Bescot Promotions and other town centre stakeholders to see if the market has been successful and achieved its aims of making the town centre more attractive to shoppers.
