The Right Stuff Project will be launching in Chadsmoor this week after hugely successful clubs were set up in Stone, Stafford and Huntington.

There will be two clubs in the Chadsmoor area.

Starting on Thursday 27th January, from 7pm to 9pm, there is a Right Stuff club at Blake Valley Youth Centre Gym, at Blake Valley Technology College. This club will be running every Thursday evening.

Another club will get going at Coniston Hall, Cecil Street, Chadsmoor, on Wednesday 16th February, from 6.30pm to 8pm, and will then be running every Wednesday night.

The Right Stuff Project aims to have a long-term impact by reducing anti-social behaviour and improving quality of life for communities. It targets young people who could be at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour, but it is very much open to everyone.

Youngsters aged 10 and above can sign up to learn the techniques and skills of amateur boxing, earning certificates, medals and education credits along the way. In return, however, members have to take part in community projects like litter picks, gardening for the elderly and graffiti removal.

Other activities include team-building sessions, self-confidence building, other fitness activities, alcohol awareness, advice and support from local drug and alcohol services and much more.

The Right Stuff will also link in with Addiction Dependency Solutions (ADS), which work with adults who are dependant on alcohol and drugs. Users will be allocated a support worker who will develop a treatment programme and monitor an individual through it.

The project is led by Staffordshire Police in association with Cannock Chase Council’s Resident Champions Group and Staffordshire County Council.

The Council’s Resident Champions Group – which is made up of residents and works to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour – donated £10,000 of Government funding to get the project off the ground.

Young people or parents in Chadsmoor who want to find out more about the Right Stuff Project should contact Pc Andy Whitehall, Right Stuff Project Leader, on 0300 123 4455 or boxing tutor Cher Farmer on 01543 512440.
