Delivered by Inspiring healthy lifestyles the Cannock Chase project was supported by Sport England’s Sportivate Innovation Fund and has recently targeted female pupils across eight local high schools.

Each school joined a 12 week programme of activity, trialling a range of new sports including rugby, golf, boxing and dance and with session linking back to community activities. Engaging over 100 pupils, 50% continue to be active in a community based sport.

Pete Burt, Managing Director of Inspiring healthy lifestyles said: “The Real Girls project has not only generated increasing levels of physical activity in female participants, but has significantly increased the self-confidence of  many  of the young people taking part. This award is truly deserved and is fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment of the team involved in the delivery of this project.”

The Real Girls project was also shortlisted at the West Midlands Sports Awards at the end of November.
