Council Press Release.
The Local Plan (Part 1) sets out the planning policy that will guide development in Cannock Chase District up to 2028 to help shape its physical, economic, social and environmental characteristics.
After substantial public consultation over many years, the Local Plan (Part 1) was submitted in May 2013 to the Secretary of State for independent examination, which took place in September last year. Sessions were held at the Council’s Civic Centre in Cannock and considered all aspects of the Plan to test its legal compliance and soundness.
Following a final round of public consultation, the Local Plan (Part 1) was adopted by Members of Cannock Chase Council on Wednesday 11th June.
Cllr Gordon Alcott, Portfolio Leader for Economic Development and Planning, said: "I’m delighted that the Council has now adopted the Local Plan, which is a vitally important strategic document to set the framework for future development in our District. It covers a huge range of issues, from housing and employment land to sustainable transport and biodiversity, and has taken considerable time and effort. I’d like to thank everyone who has taken part in the extensive Local Plan consultations over the last few years.”
The Local Plan (Part 1), adoption statement and the Inspector’s report are all available for public inspection on the Council’s website at www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/planningpolicy
