Local people urged to shape Council priorities

Cannock Chase Council has urged local people to help shape its priorities for the next financial year.

The Council wants to know residents’ views on the priorities that were set for this financial year (2011/12) and if any new ones should be included for 2012/13.

In June, the Council published its Corporate Plan. Having listened to residents, consulted with partners and understood the demographic outlook for the area, the Council chose to focus on four priorities in 2011/12:

PEOPLE: active and healthy lifestyles

PLACE: improved living environment

PROSPERITY: economic resilience

TRANSFORMATION: Changing the way services are provided to ensure value for money.

In each priority area, a number of service aims set out what the Council will be focusing on to deliver the priority.

For example, in PEOPLE: active and healthy lifestyles are the following service aims:

Increase participation in physical activity

Decrease in smoking and harm caused by alcohol

Support vulnerable people to live in their own homes

Regulate local food businesses to protect public health.

A survey is available on the Council’s website at www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk where local people can rank the service aims in each area and give their suggestions for alternatives.
