Hednesford signal box relocated to Hednesford Park

The signal box was built in 1876 and has been donated by Network Rail to Cannock Chase Council. The signal box has been relocated to Hednesford Park near the pavilion. The box will be restored and transformed into a classroom for park community activities.

The project will also see original signal posts restored and installed near the signal box.

The project has come as considerable cost as the relocation needed a 300-tonne capacity crane but personally I think the idea is fantastic. It maintains and educates people about local history whilst providing a useful resource.
