Hednesford Town Council is launching a draft Neighbourhood Plan document which people can provide their feedback on before it’s finalised.
Community consultation is a key part of the process for any neighbourhood plan – which is also known as a ‘planning blueprint’ and the town council is calling on residents, businesses and community groups to get involved.
The document has been dubbed ‘Tomorrow’s plan today’ and is will form part of the process for planning decisions applicable to the area, up to 2028. It will be a guide document that must be followed by the town council and district council when considering planning applications. Policies set out in the Neighbourhood Plan will aim to address key concerns raised by local people. It will include:
Facilities and amenities
Town centre and outlying retail developments
Green spaces and conservation
History and heritage
Councillor Brian Gamble who has been involved with developing the plan so far said: “It’s important that everyone who works, lives and visits the area has their say on the future of Hednesford.
“The Neighbourhood Plan will affect many key features of the town, from historical landmarks to housing and public spaces.
“We’re excited to see this people power in action. We know how passionate the people of Hednesford are and we look forward to work with them to establish the future.”
Copies of the plan are available to view at Pye Green Community Centre and Hednesford Library. The video explaining all about what it means will also be posted on the town council’s website.
Completed questionnaires about the Neighbourhood Plan need to be completed by Wednesday, August 31. This can be done with a paper copy which will be available at Pye Green Community Centre, as well as at Hednesford library. People can fill in an online version through the Hednesford Town Council website at http://www.hednesford-tc.gov.uk/.
