Cannock Chase has been chosen as the venue for the Home Affairs Select Committee’s national inquiry into policing. The important seminar on the new landscape of policing will take place on Monday November 22nd 2010 from 10am – 12.30pm in the Premier Suite Conference Centre, Cannock Town Centre. It will be addressed by the Minister for Policing, Rt. Hon. Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Home Secretary Rt. Hon. Ed Balls MP, ACPO President Sir Hugh Orde and Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police, Mike Cunningham. As the local MP I will host and open this historic summit.
The trilogy of topics to be covered will include; the impact of the Comprehensive Spending review on the police, directly elected individuals, known as ‘Police and Crime Commissioners’ and the National Crime Agency.
I am delighted that the Home Affairs Select Committee is holding this important conference which will help shape the future of policing – and absolutely thrilled that they have chosen Cannock Chase as the venue. Such a high profile event will help put our community on the map and shows we open for business. I look forward to welcoming the Minister, Shadow Home Secretary, ACPO President and other high octane guests to what will be a very special event for our area.
