At a recent networking breakfast, The Best of Camberley was fortunate enough to meet up with Kevin Munday from Fire-Compliance & Safety Basingstoke and he informed us that The Fire Service is at liberty to visit a premises at any time and check a Fire Risk Assessment. If you are unfortunate enough to have a fire and your Fire Risk Assessment has been deemed not suitable or sufficient the loss adjusters can use that fact to withhold or downgrade any insurance payments.
A Fire Risk Assessment evaluates your premises in terms of fire safety hazards. A qualified Fire Compliance & Safety assessor will visit your premises, make a detailed physical inspection and provide you with an easy to understand report. This report will include a prioritised action plan on how to minimise the risk of fire to your business.
The law states that the responsible person for each premises is required to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment each year and take steps to reduce or remove the risks.
The "responsible person" is the person/s who owns or controls the business and/or the owner of the property in the case of multi-occupied buildings and it is their responsibility to ensure that a regular Fire Risk Assessment is carried out.
Remember it is law and a few simple measures can save lives ( and prison sentences), and stop you or your company incurring heavy fines for each non compliance issue. Your business can be closed down or suspended whilst work is carried out, causing further expense and damage to business and reputation.
Call Kevin on 0845 409 3311 or kevin.mundy@fire-compliance-safety.com and his team will be happy to undertake a Fire Safety Audit for your business free of charge.
