There are just two days left to send in your expressions of interest to get involved in this year's Whitefield Halloween Festival which runs from 20 ' 31 October covering the half term week and including Halloween night

Organisers are looking for poems on Halloween, bonfire, harvest or autumn using a maximum of 200 words. Winners will be judged by local writers and displayed at Whitefield Library post festival. If writing stories is more up your street then you can enter the short story category using a maximum of 2,000 words. Winners will be judged by local writers and displayed at Whitefield Library post festival.

This year range of activities to engage and entertain people of all ages although the event aims to convey a more serious message to younger children in support of Operation Treacle, a Police and Fire campaign to reduce anti'social behaviour associated with the Halloween period.

There is a host of ways to get involved in other ways too, as the organisers are looking for actors who can act out a classic play or provide help with the lighting or sound. To apply download the application form via www.bury.gov.uk/whitefield following the Halloween Festival link.
