Yes, we know; it's the school holidays yet again and here we all are, trying to source ways in which we can keep our children entertained. Luckily, there are lots of things to do in our borough which will ensure the kids are happy, having fun and not arguing with each other (we hope).

One of the main disadvantages of the kiddies being off school is the expense. These days, it can be difficult finding a way to keep them busy that doesn't involve spending money. Whether it's the cost of lunch at your favourite cafe, a shopping trip or the purchase of a new game for their XBOX, it's all a bit harsh on the bank balance and they'll soon be back to being bored. So, what to do? Well we at thebestofbury have sourced some of the borough's best offers and events so that you don't have to. Grab yourself a nice cup of tea and read our fantastic guide to a stress-free half term!

The Fusilier Museum - On the 20th February, this local museum will be hosting a puppet craft workshop and animal storytelling event. These will keep your little loved ones focused for four hours (allowing you to sit back and enjoy the peace). It's also FREE!

The East Lancashire Railway - Sometimes it's good to get out of the house and into the wild. East Lancashire Railway are allowing children under the age of 16 to travel on the ELR for FREE up until the 15th March 2015 (when accompanied by a Freedom of the Line fare paying adult). This means you can explore the surrounding areas for a fraction of the price during half term - brilliant!

Titan the Robot - On the 19th February, Titan, the awe-inspiring robot, will be blasting his way through Bury! This is a must-see for all children (and adults too). It will feature comedy, street theatre and music. Oh and it's FREE!

Puss in Boots - Patrick Lynch from CBeebies will be performing this popular tale complete with puppets, a windmill and a few surprises! It costs just £8 and will be showing on Friday 20th February at The Met, Bury.

Roller skating – The entire family can whizz around Castle Leisure Centre on a stylish pair of roller skates every Saturday! Price - £5 for adults and £4.20 for juniors. Skate hire is 60p. So, what are you waiting for?

I Will If You Will Family Bike Ride - Grab your bicycle, helmet and join in on the fun! This fantastic bike ride will be taking place on Saturday 21st February in Prestwich. Oh, and did we say it's FREE?

Lunch for less than £6 - Before 5pm Monday to Friday, the Victory Pub at Village Hotel Bury is offering a meal and soft for £5.95! We love it!

Now that the activities are out of the way, it's time to enjoy the last bit of peace until half term.

Enjoy the school holidays and make the most of spending time with your family. You can view our events pages for more information.
