Most people want to shop locally more often, but when push comes to shove many still head elsewhere for their shopping. Why is this? What is missing or lacking about our local high streets? If we don’t have the answers then how can we possibly tell the planners, local authorities or our politicians what we need them to do?
There have been debates over cost and availability of parking, high street cleanliness, pedestrian access and reliability of public transport. So isn’t it time that people’s opinions were voiced to find out exactly what needs to be done to ensure local people are spending their money with local businesses? After all it’s great local businesses that keep the economy going, that always go the extra mile for their customers, support the local community and shape the character of our town.
