Shopping and entertainment destination, The Rock Bury, is supporting local students this month by hosting Holy Cross College’s end of year A-Level Art & Design exhibition within the scheme.

The exhibition celebrates the achievements of all students from the A Level Art & Design department at Holy Cross College and is a culmination of a year’s work by second year students from across the department, which includes; Art, Graphics, Photography and Textiles.

To celebrate the launch of the exhibition, Holy Cross College in partnership with The Rock, will be hosting a VIP event on the 14th June, where students, staff, parents, local stakeholders and dignitaries, will be invited for a preview of the show, before the exhibition opens to the public on the 15th June.

The exhibition will be open to the public until Saturday 18th June, during which visitors will be guided by college students, whilst viewing the large scale and extremely varied exhibition.  A dedicated website, www.anoaktree.org and twitter feed will provide the latest news on happenings at the venue, including images and video of the displayed work.

A spokesperson from the Art & Design Department at Holy Cross College, commented: “We usually hold the exhibition within the college itself, but when The Rock offered to host the exhibition this year, it was too good an opportunity to miss. The students have worked hard on their individual projects over the course of the year, and we are delighted to be able to work with The Rock to provide a more public platform to showcase their work to the local community.”

David Laycock, Centre Director for The Rock, added: “The Rock prides itself on working with the local community and is a proud supporter of the arts. By holding the exhibition at The Rock, we hope to give added exposure to young local talent.”

193 sets of second year work will be exhibited in The Rock’s event space (Unit F30), above the Frankie & Benny’s restaurant, which can be accessed via the leisure foyer. The exhibition space will be open to the public from the 15th– 18th June, from 10am to 4pm. See website for further details www.anoaktree.org / www.therockbury.com
