The Adult Care Service at Bury Council has put plans in place to help and support clients during the extremely cold spell.

The Home Care Services continue across the borough with being updated by telephone if there are any delays in reaching them. Community Meals will be provided through a range of methods. Those with disabilities who receive care in their own home, will continue to do so and in some cases staff have stayed overnight with clients ensuring that they continue to get any appropriate help and support that they may need.

Day Care Services are closed to avoid any uneccessary accidents to elderly or vulnerable clients endangering themselves as they travel to or from these services. Any clients in need of additional support will be provided with this at home and for those affected contact has been made.

People who live in sheltered housing schemes will be contacted by community support staff, additional support will be made available if needed.

There is a Duty Service for Mental Health Services operated by Bury Council and Approved Mental Health Practitioner cover in operation at Inwood House and Lord Street.

The Procurement Team is in operation and will respond effectively with the private providers and deal with any matters arising.

For anyone with an elderly neighbour or vulnerable friend then please try to check on them to ensure that they have everything they need.

If you are concerned about the wellbeing of a vulnerable person living in Bury telephone 0161 253 7190.
