Party In The Park A Huge Success

Last Saturday I went along to support Bury Hospice, taking a stand at "Party In The Park"

Having never attended before I really didn't know what to expect, in fact I've never visited Close Park before (i've only ever seen the dinosaur before on passing) - I was pleasantly surprised.
What a lovely place. Close Park is a lovely spacious and clean park with great facilities for all of the family including an outdoor gym and lot's of recreational space. A place that the local community should be proud of.

What a fabulous day it was for such an event and rightly so after last years event had to be cancelled due to torrential rain.
There was lot's going on all day - the main area by the stage housed a number of stands from those selling food (and by goodness it smelt good!), to stalls for children and even home made natural doggy treats.

There was a funfair and lot's of interactive stalls for the children to enjoy.  Silly string seemed to make an appearance - something I've not seen for years but it really went down a treat with the children (and in some cases, adults too!)

There was an amazing atmosphere and standing room only infront of the Tower FM stage for the best part of the day where a number and variety of singers and bands performed throughout the day including B Minor, Re Connected and Marry Another as well as Bury Community Choir.
Each live act entertained between a live radio broadcast from Tower FM - Great music guys!

The weather made a massive impact on the day at one point being announced that it had hit 31 degrees - great business for the beer tent!!

The fun and entertainment continued throughout the day and a live auction was hosted with the prize - a full valet for your car as many times in a 12 month period as you wish - being kindly donated by RRG, Bury. This generated a further £180 towards what was raised on the day.

Their was a whole host of volunteers on hand and ensuring things stayed clean and tidy and everything went without a hitch. Without all these people of course, events like this wouldn't be possible and they deserve a pat on the back for dedicating their time to such a great cause.

The acts were ended with a name many know and love from Bury - Johnny Grogan.

All in all a fantastic day. The weather was kind, the people were generous. It's great to see everyone pulling together - all for one reason, Bury Hospice!
Here's to next year!
