It's the time of year when many people will book their flu jab in readiness for winter.

The best time to have your flu vaccine is from early October through until NovemberĀ so why not give Prestwich Pharmacy a call to book yours.

Flu can be debilitating when we actually have it. It stops you from getting out of bed, from your daily tasks and from going to work. Prevention is available and is advised, particularly for those most at riskĀ such as:

Over 65's
Pregnant women
Children and adults with weak immune systems
Children and adults with underlying health conditions such as heart or respiratory disease.

The vaccine is advised for those in the higher risk groups could result in complications such as pneumonia.

Prestwich Pharmacy offer a free flu vaccine to all of those eligible, they include:
Over 18's at risk (including all over 65)
Pregnant women
Children aged 6 months to two years at risk of flu
The vaccine can be administered as a nasal spray to those who fit the criteria.

Are there any side effects?
Sid effects are very rare, some people may have a mild ache in their arm or slight temperature but cases are few and far between.

How effective is the vaccine?
Whilst the vaccine does not give a 100% guarantee, it does help prevent flu and if contracted will significantly
reduce the infection to be milder and shorter lived.
Evidence also suggests that a flu jab reduces the risk of stroke.

Call Prestwich Pharmacy to book yours today and ensure a healthy winter for all.
