In our latest people behind the business blog we asked Graham, owner and instructor at Get Driving Today a little bit more about what he loves about his job and how he's seen things change over the years since he passed his own driving test.

How long have you been a driving instructor?

Qualified in 2008 and have been full time since.

How long is it since you passed your driving test?

I passed in 1983 (soooooooo long ago)

Did you pass first time?

Nope !! I passed second time, with what we now affectionately call a pass with a "telling off" (I've changed the wording on the last bit - lol)

Have things changed a lot since back then?

What's changed? The number of cars on the road is the main change. Back int' day most families were lucky to have one car. Now most families have 2,3 or more cars. So if you've ever wondered why you can ever find anywhere to park!!! That's why.

What's your biggest pet hate with other drivers?

I don't hate anything really, they make me laugh more than anything else. Although I do vent a little when I'm going home in a taxi and they go the wrong way around the roundabout at Radcliffe Asda, (BECAUSE ITS EASIER TO GO STRAIGHT.)

What's the worst manoeuvre you've ever witnessed?

The worst manoeuvre I ever witnessed was on a test. It was a parallel park which the examiner stated was more of a "reconstruction". THE worst

What do you love about your job?

Saying goodbye to customers (that's the aim of the job)

And here's just one pupil he's enjoyed saying goodbye to.

What would you say has been your biggest challenge to date in your role?

Getting up early for breakfast meetings. (We know he loves that really) On a serious note getting good driving instructors on board to help build the team is the biggest challenge for me right now.  Do you know anybody?

What about your biggest success story?

I think for such a small driving school to make it to the final three of the MIBBA's (The Made In Bury Business Awards) has to be seen as a success.

Absolutely Graham, it's  fantastic achievement.

If you weren't a driving instructor, what would you be?

Bored.

Graham is an amazing instructor with a BIG personality, and, more importantly a highly successful pass rate.  If you or someone you know is considering learning, we'd whole heartedly recommend his services.  You won't be disappointed.
