To mark the huge event of 2012's London Olympic and Paralympic Games, a major sporting event will be held here in Bury.

The International Youth Sports Festival will give participants the chance to compete against other young people from twinned and friendship towns around the world, such as Angouleme in France and Schorndorf in Germany.

Bury last hosted this prestigious event in 2006, when over 800 people got involved to promote sports amongst 13-16 year olds. The 2012 International Youth Sports Festival is a fantastic way share the excitement of the London Olympics and creative positive experiences for people from all walks of life.

Running alongside the sporting events throughout the festival will be a special Arts and Culture programme to enhance educational and business links with the international guests, as well as providing a great opportunity to learn more about their different cultures.

The festival is planned to take place from 21st-24th June next year.
