If like me you enjoy your garden then it's always good to top up on general information - the what, where and when's of the gardening calendar.

Sometimes books are a wealth of information which is often too lengthy to take in.
So, I have decided to share with you a few gardening tips for September as recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society.

*Divide herbaceous perennials
*Plant spring flowering bulbs for a lovely show of colour next year
*Collect and sow seeds from perennials and hardy annuals
*Dig up those remaining potatoes to avoid slug damage
*Pick autumn rasperries
*Cover your ponds with nets to avoid the falling leaves as autumn sets in
*Clean out your greenhouse or cold frames to ensure there is no hiding place for bugs
*Cover leafy vegetable crops with bird proof netting
*Start to reduce the frequency of house plant watering
* Keep up with the watering of new plants and use rain water if possible

Until October....
