As we’ve all seen (and heard!) there are some major developments happening in Bury Town Centre and I don’t think anyone doubts that it will really uplift our town. Although we already have some great attractions and shops, we’re really lacking entertainment facilities in the centre. The new development on the Rock which is worth a whopping £300 million will include a cinema and bowling alley, as well as 60 new shops, restaurants, Debenhams, M & S, 400 brand new apartments and a much needed large car park.
Anyone who has walked along the Rock lately will have seen some of the repaving works that are being done to improve the pedestrian’s area. This is being funded by Thornfield Properties, who are behind the massive developments at the end of the Rock. This work has been undertaken to provide a good link from the new development to the existing facilities in the town centre and will significantly improve the area.
The site will double the retail space that Bury has to offer, something which I’m delighted about as a serial shopper! But joking aside, this is a great opportunity to get investment into Bury and show what we have to offer as a town. Roll on autumn 2010!
