Bury Residents Climb Kilamanjaro for The Christie
25th August 2011

On the 31st August Ben and Caroline Lomax travel out to Tanzania with the aim to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the The Christie.

The Christie is one of the largest self funded Cancer Hospitals in Europe and relies heavily on fundraising to carry on the fantastic work it does in the battle against cancer and helping those dealing with it, whether they are patients or friends or relatives of those who have it.

Most people now will be affected by cancer either directly or through someone they know and as they are a local charity Ben and Caroline chose to raise funds for them.  Whilst they are local, they also take in 26% of their patients from all around the country so the benefits of fundraising aren’t just realised in the locality.

The climb itself is over 8 days with 6.5 days climbing up and 1.5 days descending.  There is a Facebook group for all those people who want to be kept up to date with how Ben and Caroline are getting on.
