PRESS RELEASE

On Friday 5 July, the BGS Development Office hosted their second Charity Golf Day at the prestigious Rochdale Golf Club which boasts a superb 18 hole, tree-lined course. Appropriately, it is situated on the original Estate of the School’s Founder, Roger Kay.

The event was a tremendous success. 20 teams participated in the competition, enjoying the rare opportunity to play on a glorious sunny day. The competition was won by The Yearsley Group of Heywood with BGS Boys School (last year’s victorious team) as close runners-up.

Fabulous raffle and auction prizes were on offer during the dinner and presentation and the proceeds of the day exceeded £14,000!

All funds from this event will go towards the education of a young boy who is to join BGS in September.

Development Director, Francine Healey said, “I am overwhelmed by the generous support we have received and I extend my thanks to all the participants, to everyone who donated prizes or contributed in any way and to Rochdale Golf Club for their wonderful hospitality. As an Old Girl myself, the bursary scheme is very close to my heart; I am privileged to follow the progress of the boys and girls for whom we receive sponsorship – many of them are amongst our highest achievers”.
