This is a busy, buzzing hotel and not a place I would consider for a relaxing night away. Although we were staying here for a conference we hoped to be able to unwind in the evening.

Our room was cold but once I located the thermostat it was fine. It was clean although in need if a little tlc. We had asked for a quiet room but our room was directly above the main function room. It was party night and unfortunately the sound did travel. It wasn't enough To stop me sleeping but without the tv on low, it would have been.

Food was nice, although it did take a while to arrive. Drinks were expensive and there didn't seem to be a quiet place to sit and relax. The pool area always seemed busy too.
Really glad I wasn't staying for a relaxing weekend as it felt like a party zone!

Could it do with a lick of paint? Yes probably and some of the bathrooms are a bit 90s but its clean, the facilities are second to none, the food is great and what really keeps me coming back time and again are the staff, they are fantastic, always so friendly and welcoming, really makes a difference when youre away from home a lot.

Visited the spa several weeks ago with a family member. We were greeted by the staff and told to fill in a record card whilst having the day explained to us. We sat in the relaxation room, however, this was only small and once other people arrived it became crowded and was not really a relaxation/recovery area that I have known when visiting other spas. We asked were we should go to get changed as we expected to receive robes and slippers but the young girl was unsure, she went away then returned us to show us a 'Unisex' change room, again she was unsure what we should do with our belongings whilst giving us two robes that looked used. We was a little apprehensive to change as the change room was small but did not have separate cubicles so anyone could walk in including the opposite sex plus people wanting to use the toilet! The toilet was uninviting it looked old, worn and not 'Spa' like, the hand wash bottle was empty and just looked grotty. Once changed we took our belongings to the communal change rooms that are used by the gym members and returned back for our treatments. Although I had put down contraindications on the record card non of these were talked through to check I was okay to continue- a little bizzare, why ask us to fill them in!
Once in the room I would not say it was heated enough to say you are stripped down next to nothing nor was I asked if I would like extra blankets/towels, My therapist was pleasant but insisted talking throughout my back massage and the same throughout the mini facial. I could hear her drinking a bottle behind me, complained she had no brush to put on the face mask and struggled taking the facial products off with cotton wool-Not relaxing at all, Is this not the idea you book these packages!? Once the treatments were finished it was explained to us we could use the facilities but should avoid heat, the pool and washing off the oils! Why then give us our treatments so early? It was then a choice of use the facilities and waste was had just been done or continue... I did not feel relaxed anyway, I took the latter. on talking we discovered the treatments are not in sync with each therapist as one of us received a scalp massage during the treatment and quite time, the other did not. The facilities where okay but the pool was very busy and children were having swimming lesson, the Jacuzzi was cold and the hot tub out of use for a while-but once available it became full so we never got to use it.
Over-all the day was not great but not terrible. I feel some of the areas need a good make over and also a re-think regards to male/female change areas and that all the therapists work to the same standards so each client receives a similar experience.
One last point, we had left our details to purchase some products that were out of stock but some weeks later we are still waiting to hear from the girls. After this first time visit I am afraid to say we wont be rushing back especially as we both now have been suffering from bad coughs and colds ever since! Not a coincidence surely!? Sorry.

My husband and I attended a conference at this hotel and chose to stay in the hotel for convenience sake. The rooms were clean and tidy, although a bit dull. When we walked in the room was so hot. We turned the heating off and tried to open a window to cool it down, but of course they don't open wide enough to make a difference. Although they were double rooms, there was only 1 chair it in and staff ensured us this was normal. The staff were very good and very helpful. They were very welcoming and tried their best to satisfy everyone. The Friday night buffet was excellent. Cheers to the chef. Right, off to bed. The beds were comfortable, so no problems there. The next day we went down to breakfast. The food was good. The room seriously needs repainting and a lot of the furniture needs throwing out on the tip and replacing. The 'leather' is cracked and looks dirty. I would expect this furniture in a run down pub, not an hotel like this. The lunch supplied for £8.00/head, definitely not value for money. It consisted of a vegetable soup which was tasty and dried out thick inedible sandwiches. In the evening we had a ball. The pre-booked meals were good, but when it came to drinks, take out a loan, as they are expensive. We also found out that the drinks were more expensive at the conference by about 50% than the bar downstairs. This is not a practise that should be allowed. My advice, walk the distance and go downstairs for your drinks. I will not be staying here again.

My Stay at your hotel was good until the morning... When I checked myself in the evening I had informed a member of your staff that my police colleagues were going to collect me around 12.30pm... And she said that would be fine.... But as 11am approached all the hotel staff was doing ringing the room phone and pestering me to say what time I was going to vacate the room... I told them I had spoken to a member of your staff and they said it was ok to leave my room for 12.30pm.... But then they said that was not right of the night shift staff to say this... and please vacate the room.... Cleaners also knocked my door 3 times to ask when I am going.... then eventually I just packed my bags and left the room.... WAS NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH THE MORNING EXPERIENCE...

We stayed at the hotel after being invited to a Family party held there. It was a very good night with not having to worry about getting home. The room was very nice and clean and spacious. The staff were really good as we could not sort out how to get the heat on in the room and a staff member was there before my husband got back from reception and sorted it out.It was a pity we were only staying the one night.

We visited this hotel as part of an afternoon tea and a spa day package for a birthday celebration. On arrival we found a mix up with our treatments even though I had phoned 2weeks prior to double check availability. The therapist was really nice and so apologetic but nothing could be done as they were fully booked. We paid full price for our treatments but apparently there was a Living Social offer on at the same time, shame we didn't see it. We had full use of the facilities but the pool was packed with kids having swimming lessons or messing about with huge floats and only one lane was open for fast swimming. The sauna and steam room were fine but the jacuzzi closed as we got there, 10.am and was still closed after our treatments at 12noon. Afternoon tea was tea in a mug, one sandwich, a scone with jam and squirty cream (yuk) in a bar full of screaming kids who were having a party. I would have thought there was somewhere a bit nicer for us to sit but no.plus the poor chap behind the bar was run off his feet as it was so busy. It isn't somewhere I would recommend at all although the products for the treatments, Espa, were lovely and the therapist in charge did give us a free sample to make up for the mistake with the booking. Obvious solution would be to stay away from weekends. The overall feel of the hotel was big chain, not really bothered.

Am a leisure club member and occasionally take advantage of members offers and discounts. Ate recently in the pub area of the hotel. Always considered the drinks a little bit on the expensive side (£7 for a large glass of house wine) but they do seem to have reduced in recent times and membership discounts do help. Order and pay at the bar and a pub grub menu The food is probably cooked (at least in part) from frozen. The service is pretty good, but food is only OK without the quality or personal touch you might expect to find in a decent gastro pub.
The Verve restaurant in the same building provides a wider ranging Bistro style menu which is a little pricey for a corporate type hotel complex and I don't think it would be the venue of choice other than for business travellers. I think the hotel group could do a little better with a little thought to quality/price ratios.

We had a great night here, the room we stayed was great, breakfast was lovely, 70's night was great, but they let themselves down by overcharging for drinks. E.g.their own public bar, £4.95 for a double Bacadi n coke, function room price (in the same hotel!!) £7.30!!! Total Rip off!!!!! That's why some of us wandered through to the public bar to buy our drinks😄 Why do you do this Village Hotels? !!!!!!!

Having seen a Groupon deal for a tribute night at the this hotel my family and I decided to book the disco diva night.

Once we arrived we were welcomed to the hotel and instructed as to which table we would be sat at for the night. We were then shown to a great room with a bar area until the larger room was ready for the meal and disco to begin.

The larger room where the rest of the night was held was great, it had large tables set up and a great disco light set up with a large dancefloor. We then found our seats and the meal began, the service was fantastic, the staff were very attentive and swift, but the food was the highlight of the night, it was delicious as well as being beautifully presented on the plate. After eating all three courses we were all suitably full and ready to party the night away!

The DJ provided great entertainment throughout the night, playing a few games for bottles of champagne and playing great music, but the only let down was the live duo that performed, the microphones they were using seemed very muffled unfortunately, meaning that the singing was quite hard to hear. Other than that the night was a great success and I will definitely be returning for another of the tribute nights at the Village Hotel.

i arrived at this hotel to a warm welcome. First impressions were very good with a lit fire and a Starbucks in the check in area, a restaurant on the right and a bar area on the left. The hotel has gym, swimming pool, which I could use during my stay. My room were immaculate with a comfy bed. Food were reasonably priced and taste good.

I stayed at the hotel for my sister's birthday. And have to say the hotel was lovely. It was a nice treat to have a relaxing swim before dinner. I had the steak it was cooked to perfection. All the staff we came in contact with were genuinely happy and. friendly. I will be back hopefully for my birthday.

I stayed here for two nights whilst on business in Bolton. Room has been recently refurbished but not very practically, the Tea and coffee making facilities are on a very low box....what's that all about. The noise from the busy road it is on is bad and the insulation providrd by the windows is minimal. Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel if possible. The bathrooms haven't been refurbished and are very dated. I can forgive that, but can't forgive the bathroom not being clean. There are someone's hair bobbles on the shelf in the shower....God only knows how long they have been there. Restaurant seems fine but a tad expensive. The hotel is a busy one and there is always something going on.
