I Decided to try the village hotel on a saterday night as i had a food card and i had had a really nice sunday buffet there a few years ago. There where 2 functions on and while it was busy in the entrance the restaurant had one couple in and it had no atmosphere. The waitresses was friendly enough and gave us the menus nut i was quiet shocked how small it was specially for a hotel. The was about 6 starters and about 6/7 mains and the same for the sweets.i mentioned this to the waitress and she said they had just changed it.The portions were not huge but tasted ok.The women at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpfull but i wouldnt eat there again which would be to do with size of the menu and the lack of any atmosphere

+ excellent friendly and helpful staff !
+ free car park
+ large room with a very nice bathroom
+ free and very very fast wi-fi
+ restaurant and bar to choose from
+ swimming pool, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, gym

- difficult accses to the front door of a hotel (stairs)
- selfchecking reception
- noisy walls and corridor out of a room
- cleanness of a room can be little bit improved especialy bathroom
- restaurant food is quiet pricy and chips came out burnt (the oil must have been ages old)
- pub food well, what can I say, just do not order any pizza (flatbread), it was rubbish
- location next to a very busy motorway

Good facilities at the hotel, very friendly staff and great breakfast stand out. We also experienced overall good service at a reasonable price. We shall certainly be coming back on our next visit to Manchester.

Have stayed here several times and always been impressed by quality of service and friendliness of staff. We were disappointed this time to find the reception desk has been replaced by IT terminals and a solitary member of staff- not very welcoming. Also had disturbed night's sleep caused by drunken guests who had attended a function that night. Make a point of getting a room in the annex if you want a quiet night!

I was booked into the Village Hotel Bury for a business trip and what a fantastic hotel it turned out to be. I travel all over the UK for work and I will be booking village hotels whenever possible going forwards.

We visited here as a treat as we were eating at a local restaurant and it saved a big taxi journey home.
Check in was great as it was via tablets in reception with people on hand to help if you were struggling. The bar was pricey but good - great atmosphere and drinks.
The rooms were - stripy! Stripy walls and stripy carpet. Too much to drink and you would walk on the walls. What happened to tasteful neutrals?
Other than that they were fine, we booked a superior - maybe not worth the money given we spent all of 30 minutes in there other then sleeping.
The bed was comfortable but we were facing the motorway which meant plenty of sirens. The couple we were with were on the floor below facing the river, we were envious until the following morning when we heard the wedding party had literally carried on until 4am. Which with fire doors is no joke.
The breakfast is well worth the extra. Absolutely delicious, regardless of the amount of hungover people they had to service. Plenty of choice and all delicious.
We went to the spa after breakfast. I have a vision of a spa as a relaxing place with various off shoot rooms to heat up, cool down etc. This was basically a huge pool with a sauna a steam room. Normally fine but they obviously maximise potential and have swimming lessons etc in the pool. Not really what I wanted on a Sunday morning.
Not sure we will stop here again, it served a purpose but I think next time I'll opt for the longer taxi journey and my own bed.......

13 people descended last Sunday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. Including kids. We were all served quickly and attentively with exceptional food. The staff also sang happy birthday to me :) the only negative I found was how hot it was in the restaurant, guests had to go outside frequently. If it hadn't have been so hot we would have spent all afternoon in the hotel. X

I have stayed in a few Village hotels & they have all been great. I recommend you sign up to their website for great deals, we had 1 night stay at £25 & breakfast at £5 for both of us. Leisue facilities are great too.

Facilities at the hotel were really good. The breakfast is decent aswell. Downsides were beer prices in the bar, the people next door having a party until 6am in the morning and doors slamming every 5 minutes.

I recently stayed for 3 nights and can thoroughly recommend this hotel. All the staff were friendly and obliging and the service in the bar and restaurant was first class. When I am in the North West I will definitely stay here again.
The leisure facilities were also first class with a 25 metre pool.

The good points are clean bedrooms, club class shower rooms, easy parking, friendly staff.
The average points are tricky access with cases, breakfast and room coffee machine.
The bad point is the unacceptable noise levels on a Saturday night. Sunday was altogether different, very quiet, but if the hotel is hosting a wedding on the Saturday then you will be disturbed. Fine if you're at the party but not so good if you want to sleep.

Great room Bar area is getting tired Food only average in the Restaurant and all though quality was good the breakfast was not very warm Beer was very good though. I thought the cost of £140 for the room was a bit steep

Room was pricey and very noisy if you are facing the motorway. The windows need upgrading as do not seal properly and there was a buzzing noise, (source unknown) from behind the TV.
The club room I stayed in was well equipped and bathroom was nice. Food was pricey in the restaurant.

We stayed at the hotel via a special offer to gym members. (We had acquired a dog at new year who woofed and yapped periodically all night but especially on Fridays when my husband went out. I decided I deserved a good night's sleep.) Check-in is easy and quick, our room was on the first floor - a very nice room. When I am away i take the opportunity to sort out the recipes I've collected and the long settee in the room was perfect for sorting my files out. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant. We started with terrine with toast - my husband was unable to eat the toast but the waitress quickly brought bread rolls. I had a main of steak stroganoff, my husband had the rump steak. I had a sticky toffee pudding for dessert, my husband had an Irish coffee. All the dishes were excellent and the waitress was friendly and efficient. We had an excellent night's sleep in a very comfortable bed and were down for an early breakfast. Everything is self service - fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals as the choices to start.. The main course - bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, scrambled eggs (fried and poached cooked to order) were all hot and well cooked. Toast and croissants to complete the meal with unlimited tea and coffee. Check out was very quick - just put your keys in a box. By the time we stayed at the Village, the dog had settled down and had stopped woofing all night so the original reason for booking a room had changed but it was so nice to have somebody put my meals in front of me - absolutely no complaints.

We came ten years ago for my sons wedding so decided to come for mums 90th as the location was good for the family. We all were sadly disappointed compared to last time. The decoration is dire and the only saving grace were the few staff we saw. Not good value compared to the Premier Inn.

Upon arrival we received 5 star customer service and offered early check in which we had forgot to book. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Will definitely be using Village Club Hotel for future trips.

The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were very friendly however if you do not drive the location isn't ideal as there is not much around the hotel. There is however a pub next to the hotel which is lovely. Overall great stay.
