The Made in Bury Weekly £2000 Draw is an initiative which supports Bury businesses in their formative years.
The not for profit initiative is drawn every Wednesday, with one lucky ticket holder winning £2,000. The draw tickets are available for people that live or work in Bury or have a connection with Bury. This includes the whole borough of Bury, from Ramsbottom through to Prestwich.
Each ticket costs just £2 and there are a maximum of 2,400 available.
Funding new start-up businesses
For many new-start up businesses, beginning a new venture can be a tough journey. For some, funding may not be available, for others, and especially as sole traders, the journey can be a lonely one. That's where The Made in Bury Weekly £2000 Draw can support these companies.
Statistics show that 40% of start-up businesses fail within their first year, 70% of start-ups don’t make it to their 5th year of business, and only 9% see success with ten or more years under their belt.
The monies from the draw support two separate areas; interest free loans and The Made in Bury Business Academy.
Interest free loans
Interest free loans are available via The Made in Bury Weekly £2000 Draw. Applications will be accepted from businesses across the borough who have been trading for less than two years.
The Made In Bury Business Academy
The Made in Bury Business Academy welcomes a diverse range of businesses, in nature and in size. Following a range of modules which cover potential obstacles which can be detrimental to growth, and making the most of positive opportunities,
the Academy will educate and guide it's members to facilitate success. Supported by Bury Council, the Academy offers prolific guest speakers, informative projects and support to those businesses who could greatly benefit from being a part of it.
The Made in Bury Weekly £2000 Draw is all about giving back to our local business community, in turn
supporting our local economy and employing more local people within those companies.
Weekly draw
Each Wednesday around midday, a random number generator picks the winning ticket. The lucky recipient is then surprised with delivery of a giant cheque congratulating them on their win.
The first draw took place on the 9th May 2018 and now we have given away almost £500,000!!!!
With just 2,400 tickets available, chances are they won't be around for too long.
