Seven Objectives

It is perfectly possible and a relatively frequent occurrence to be highly successful in business and at the same time have a disastrous personal life. I would suggest that success devoid of happiness is a very cold comfort. It is far better to have a more holistic approach to life where business coexists harmoniously with what you do outside of the office. To achieve this balance requires the same quality required for success in business alone, i.e. a feasible strategy, commitment and mental focus.

I proudly present a simple strategy for making every aspect of your life fruitful, and promoting balance between all the various parts. This strategy is simply called Seven Objectives. In order for this strategy to be effective, three important criteria must be met: Firstly you are not currently engaged in any act of disloyalty or betrayal against anyone who trusts you. Secondly, you are not in the middle of a major crisis, such as the collapse or loss of a venture or relationship, and thirdly you are not suffering from a significant mental illness such as bipolar disorder. In any of these circumstances, you are not in a position to make rational informed choices, and what you really need now is "time out", some help/support, and an emergency strategy.

Assuming none of these contra-indications apply, the Seven Objectives is a highly effective method for keeping your business, and your life generally on track. Here's how it works:

No matter where you are and what you are doing, you should be focused on achieving at least one of the following objectives, and quite often, several at once. Being focused on the objectives will help guide you away from making foolish and counter-productive choices and keep your life moving in the right direction.

1. Give and receive love - this doesn't always come automatically. We might love someone, but we need to express it when we have the opportunity. If you are in the presence of your loved ones, even passing each other on the landing, you have an opportunity by expressing an endearment and/or a playful touch to achieve this objective.

2. Experience joy - this can be something as simple as a sunset or a particularly refreshing cup of tea. Anything nice, however small, should be savoured at that moment.

3. Gather wisdom - Even daily life can teach you something new. Take time to contemplate every meeting and interaction and ponder whether there is something useful to learn from it.

4. Do business - A motivated business person will seldom miss this one, but you may still easily miss unforeseen openings. Be open to a business opportunity anytime anywhere, not just when you are officially "on the job".

5. Make Contacts - All the criteria involved with making business also applies to this objective. This is an objective that is as vital as doing business itself if you want to see your business fluorish.

6. S*xual Fulfilment - Once you get older and take on a few commitments, this objective can be completely overlooked. This is not surprising, as the odds of right place and right time coinciding naturally can fall to virtually zero! The answer is of course to schedule it. S*x is very good for you, with all kinds of mental and physical benefits. As Mae West succintly put it, "An org*sm a day keeps the doctor away!" To be unfulfilled will undermine your wellbeing and your relationships. If you are not currently with anyone, that need not stop you! A solo effort is almost as beneficial. Pamela Anderson has often stated "When I'm single, my house ends up with no corners!" (Let me know if you need an explanation!)

7. Pursue Wellbeing - This is the objective having the most opportunities. You can achieve it when you're asleep! (mind and body undergo rest and regeneration when you are asleep) There are an endless list of activities available for achieving wellbeing, and any idle moment, such as being in a queue, as well as scheduled activity is an opportunity to achieve this objective.
