Joy in the mundane

The reality is that life just cannot be beer and skittles the whole time. A famous Zen quote is before enlightenment I gathered crops and chopped firewood. After enlightenment I gathered crops and chopped firewood. In other words, as successful as you get, you still have to do the dishes! I am really enjoying the challenge of building my business, but between those exciting bits I have to hoover, mow and operate a checkout to make ends meet and have somewhere habitable!

As far as I have come in self-development, being confronted with a pile of chores remains a serious challenge to my mental stamina. Fatigue on top rapidly erodes my focus and attempts to keep positive. As Yoda might say to me "much to learn you still have!"

That said, I was greatly challenged recently by this little proverb: Within the mundane, the profound awaits an audience. I realised that within the mundane were opportunities to learn new things, and that I also had opportunities within the mundane to create the profound myself.

I usually like to share wisdom with the benefit of hindsight and experience, but sometimes it is right to share a learning point you are currently experiencing. This is such a time! I will keep you posted on my progress.
