Audacity makes audio podcasts easy

Get a free download from Audacity and find out just how easy it is to make an audio recording suitable for publishing on Podcasts and social media sites.

Audacity audio recording instructions.

 

  1. Click on Audacity icon on PC or laptop
  2. Plug in microphone to dark pink socket
  3. Test volume by speaking into microphone – you should see your voice registering on the volume scale (if you don't have microphone you can get them from as little as £1.50 from Asda and quality is fine)
  4. to record press the red circle.
  5. to stop press the brown square
  6. to playback press the green triangle
  7. To delete any sections click to select the I tool on the tool bar.  Click on the beginning or end of the section you wish to delete, drag over the section and press the delete button on the keyboard.
  8. press the green triangle to check if OK
  9. To Save – click File; Export; OK.  Select the file you want to save your recording in, and from the drop down menu select MP3 Files.

 Your recording is now filed and can be emailed to whatever source you want to publish to.

 

NB on first recording you will need a LAME file – you will be prompted – only use LEFT click 3.98.2 and save.  Go to where you have filed it and double click to launch.  You'll not have to do that again after first time.
