Excellent - in every way. From great customer service in the box office, to theatre experience, to brilliant and important play wonderfully acted (and directed). And, thank you, Timberlake, for writing this for Bolton.

It has been a while since visiting the theatre. The theatre space is intimate and you feel very close to the actors. The seats are comfortable with good leg room. There is good access to the higher floors with stairs and a lift. Th interior and common pars all feel a bit tired and is in need of being refreshed. New plans are afoot for widespread refurbishment. The bar area is quite large and reasonably staffed. While the cafe sells food during the day there is no significant food offering during or around the performance.

I have enjoyed every performance this season (to date!) at the Octagon Theatre. Each performance has offered something very different and 'I Capture the Castle' was spectacular. Very clever musical adaptation of Dodie Smith's classical novel - don't miss it!

Wow went yesterday to see a new British musical called I Capture the Castle, original by Dodie Smith. What a fantastic show. The singing was phenominal, made all the more better by the excellent sound quality at this little gem of a theatre. I've been a few times to this theatre and always enjoyed the different productions. All the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. The cafe on site is excellent too, with great choice of homemade food.

This review is a little late.....we watched Cinderella at the Octagon...I was taking my daughter who is severely disabled so was a little apprehensive as her behaviour can be a little 'quirky'...she uses a wheelchair as there were no wheelchair seat available I had to transfer her, staff sat us in a seat which meant that was a relatively easy thing to do..access was easy no problems at all it was a brilliant performance, and when she became a little noisy half way through the performance staff asked if we needed any help, I think the were released when I said she was making happy noises! We waited till everyone left before taking her out...and one of the performers (a rat) came and thanked us for bringing her, and asked if we had enjoyed the show....was really touched!
I've taken her to a few performances and have to say we are always made to feel welcome, and staff are always happy to help and accommodate us....

I don't go to the theatre regularly perhaps twice a year, but each time I go to the Octagon I am not disappointed. They always have a brilliant cast for each play I've seen, they perform a variety of plays, and the ones I have seen have always been excellent. The Octagon is probably 25-30 years old now and is due to be refurbished it will only make the experience of visiting even better. A superb evening out

I visit this theatre regularly and feel it gives great value for money. The productions are varied with usually excellent casts and very imaginative stage and sets. The pre theatre food is also recommended.

I took my grand daughter and a friend and her elderly mother to see bfg, even though we were sat high up on the back row , the view down was un obstructed
Clear view of all the stage excellent production, enjoyed by every generation.

Excellent production which was in the round and when actors had their back to you it was difficult to hear what they were saying, On a few occasions we missed the laughs. Friends who were sitting closer also missed the diction when the actors faced the other side. A central microphone would have helped.

Have been to see a number of plays here, Educating Rita is another in a long line of outstanding performances. The theatre is intimate and staff helpful and welcoming.

Having visited x3 times before we were looking forward to a relaxing drink in the bar before the 7.30pm show. Left manchester by car at 6pm. Lots more traffic than usual. As you follow the signs from the dual Carriageway you are led into city centre Bolton - and every left turn for the theatre was blocked for building work or no entry. Had to park near a large market hall and run in the rain to get to the theatre. 7.35pm. Front doors locked. When we were let in we had to wait in the upstairs theatre bar for an appropriate time to enter the auditorium. Only x10 mins but still annoying. Maybe details on the website about the city centre building disruption would be an idea. Great staff and good - long show.

Every production we have seen has been of the highest standard, performed with skill and enthusiasm in an intimate and often intense atmosphere. Sets range from interestingly minimalist to ingeniously complex, and the "in the round" auditorium draws the viewer right into the performance. The cast always give 110% effort into each performance and will often be rewarded with a well deserved standing ovation.
There is an excellent café on the ground floor, and bar on the first floor. All facilities are good and include disabled access and lift. Staff and volunteers are friendly, welcoming and always ready to help.
In addition to the theatre, there are also a number of community focused activities, courses and events and workshops available.
