New work is done but still feels like the same place. The same lay out more or less with the same charm of years ago, but with a modern twist in places. Loved it.

I've always loved the Octagon as a small but passionate little theatre and have enjoyed visiting for many years. The production and cast of "An Adventure" was brilliant, it was an interesting, educational and enjoyable comedic love story. Such a shame that the theatre was almost empty ... Perhaps the bar prices put people off, ie a glass of sauvignon and a non alcoholic beer £11.80 😱 ! No wonder we don't go as often as we used to.
Come on guys, those prices are more conducive to a fancy wine bar or 5* hotel.
But then I know you need all the income you can get 🤗

Well it was the cafe I attended!
The service was great, food was delicious, baby changing services ideally should be available on the same floor though, but there is stairs or lift available.would definitely use again!!

We had a fabulous time at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, watching 'Home I'm Darling'. This was our first return to live theatre in over 18 months, but the team at the Octagon ensured people's safety was a priority, with us opting for a 'socially distanced' performance. We were seated in the Balcony (J41/42), and had an incredible view of the stage. The theatre is really lovely and modern inside, with a lovely bar for pre-theatre drinks and drinks during the interval. Parking is available on the NCP next door for a nominal charge after 6pm. It is great to see theatre back up and running, especially here in Bolton.

What a shame. Went to see their latest production which was good and had a nice meal in the restaurant first. Parked at the adjacent car park as their is no free car parking nearby until after 6.Before the renovations you could have your car park ticket validated at the theatre and pay a discounted £2 now over £4 paid direct to NCP. We had £36 tickets for the front row as one of our party cannot manage stairs. We were frozen as the new air-conditioning was blowing directly on to us. We were told that it couldn't be adjusted as climatically controlled. We were offered different seats .Very few people in the theatre as either it was a socially distanced performance or people still nervous or maybe not prepared to pay city prices. At least we could hear on the front row as previously we had problems. Hope they have got the acoustics right now. Hard to say the renovations have made it better as it is just a maze of corridors now and although hand rails the steps going down do not align with row of seats so you have to be careful you don't trip. Doubt we will be going again as the local amateur groups provide a much better atmosphere and in some ways easier access etc.
