Christmas Illuminations & Switch-on Event

Bognor Regis Christmas Illuminations Switch-on Event will take place on Saturday 27th November.

For the first time this traditional event will include a family of live reindeer. Visitors can make friends with mother, father and baby reindeer at the Railway Station from 11 am on Saturday. There will also be an opportunity for children to have their photograph taken on Santa’s Christmas sleigh.

The Regis Centre Theatre will again host a sparkling Grotto, and children can meet Santa. Opening hours for this will be from 10.30 am until 12.30 and then again from 1.30 pm until 3 pm.  The cost will only be £1.50 per child.

There will also be a Raffle and various tombolas and games for both adults and children at the theatre and the Railway Station, which will also house a Craft Market for those looking for unusual gifts.

It is hoped an Italian Market will be operating in the London Road shopping precinct.

The Switch-on itself will take place in front of The Arcade, at 4.30 pm, and stars of the local pantomime, the Town Mayor and Father Christmas will all be in attendance as the lights are switched on by local girl Sophie Nugent. Many local groups have been fundraising for the lights during the past year, to ensure the continuance of this local highlight.

FREE car parking is available for the day in Fitzleet Multi- storey Car Park.

NB. In the lead-up to the event, keen-eyed shoppers can look out for the ‘Odd One Out’ items in local shop windows.  Special entry forms will be available from Bognor Regis Town Hall, and from participating traders. It will also be printed in the Bognor Regis Observer. The winner of the £50 cash prize will be announced just before the Lights are switched on.

Brought up on the South Coast, and with over 15 years in Bognor Regis, I love the place. Not everything is right, here, but nowhere is perfect. We are the sunshine capital of the mainland UK!
