Father Christmas to visit Bishop's Stortford a little early this year

We usually expect Santa to make an appearance on Christmas Eve or the early hours of Christmas Day (although we mustn't stay up to try to catch the elusive bearded one or he may not come... don't forget the sherry and mince pie!)

However, this year, Father Christmas will be visiting Bishop's Stortford a little earlier than usual, as he stops off to say hello to last-minute shoppers at Jackson Square tomorrow (Friday). This is all thanks to the efforts of Bishop's Stortford High School's young enterprise club, who is setting up a festive Grotto to raise funds for Schools Ghana Trip 2013, an annual charitable event that sees students carrying out various projects in Ghana to help locals.

The Grotto will be located next to Sports Direct at Jackson Square, Bishop's Stortford, and children can meet Santa for just £2 between 10am and 5pm.

And to add to the festive feel, Churches Together – organised by the Salvation Army – will be performing a selection of Christmas carols at the top of Jackson Square's travelator.

If you are one of the many people who always leave the Christmas shopping that little bit late, panic not as Jackson Square shopping centre will be open until 7pm on Friday, giving you the chance to buy those final (or first!) gifts without having to deal with the horror of trying to park and shop over the weekend.
